The focus of this work is a description of the academic self-efficacy development from the beginning of the first grade at elementary school till the end of high school with the emphasis on transition moments. Additionally, variables which can increase or decrease the academic self-efficacy are introduced. In the last part of the work a research project is suggested which explores teacher's importance for academic self-efficacy development. Transitional periods in one's life and their managing
Zezulová, Dominika ; Horáková Hoskovcová, Simona (advisor) ; Štětovská, Iva (referee)
The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the study of each transitory phase of the human's lifespan. The leading thread of this thesis is the Erikson's life stages theory that leads us by its nature to overcome the challenges of each stage. This basic approach is completed with partial findings of other theories in order for each stage to be introduced with all its conflicts, risks and challenges that can lead to the development of person's character. Text is completed with theoretical processing of several specific stage transitions (for example the beginning of the school attendance, wedding, beginning of the retirement etc.) One chapter is dedicated to the ritual as a tool of managing the transitional periods. Practical part of the thesis is presented by the current phenomenon of postponing the transition from childless to maternal stage of woman's life with the help of analysis of internet discussions where the motivations of young women for the postponing of motherhood are studied. Keywords: transitional period, transitional crisis, postponing motherhood

Academic self- efficacy is defined as one of the predictors of school achievement. In the theoretical part, there are summarized results of foreign researches which describe the development of academic self-efficacy during school attendance. This work focuses especially on transition from elementary to high school. Moreover, there are mentioned possibilities which may support the academic self-efficacy and increase its level. In the empirical part, there is a research which tries to describe the development of academic self-efficacy among Czech adolescents who change from elementary to high school. Questionnaires Myself As a Learner Scale and Children's Self-Efficacy Scale were used. The results suggest no significant changes in level of perceived academic self-efficacy during transition from elementary to high school. However, significant correlation was proven between both questionnaires and between grade point average and academic self-efficacy. Moreover, significant correlation was found between gender and level of academic self-efficacy by the questionnaire ChSE. Keywords: academic self-efficacy, student's school achievement, transition...
